The man who allegedly threatened National MP Simeon Brown has been given name suppression. The 25-year-old appeared in the Hutt Valley District Court on Thursday charged with threatening to commit grievous bodily harm. Judge Arthur Tompkins granted the man interim name suppression after his lawyer Cathie Sheat appealed an earlier request for name suppression, which was declined. The man was remanded in custody and will appear again in the Hutt Valley District Court on June 3.

A 42-year-old man, charged with murder, made his second court appearance today at the High Court in Wellington.
He s accused of killing a woman at the council s Central Park complex in Mount Cook last month.
The man s been remanded in custody to reappear in July, with a trial date set down for next year.
The joint interim name suppression will be discussed at that next hearing.

A man has appeared in the High Court charged with murder after a woman s body was found in a Wellington apartment last month.
The 42-year-old had his first appearance in the High Court in Wellington this morning, after having appeared at the Hutt Valley District Court last month.

Police said the man was arrested without incident today at a Lower Hutt property. I would like to acknowledge the outstanding work of our staff from both the Criminal Investigation Branch in Counties Manukau, where the original complaint was received, and the team in Lower Hutt who located the alleged offender today, Wellington Field Crime Manager Detective Inspector Darrell Harpur said in a statement. They worked closely together under urgency to get this result.
The man is due to appear in the Hutt Valley District Court on 13 May and faces a charge of threatening to kill.
