Risk factors, mechanisms noted in colistin-resistant Enterobacterales
A study of colistin-resistant Enterobacterales (CORE) isolates from patients in southeast Michigan found that increased age and prior antibiotic receipt were associated with increased risk of CORE colonization or infection, researchers reported today in
Open Forum Infectious Diseases.
In the study, one of the first to provide large-scale colistin resistance data on clinical Enterobacterales isolates in the United States, researchers with the University of Michigan and Case Western Reserve University examined routine clinical isolates obtained in single tertiary health system in Ann Arbor from January 2016 through March 2017.
Patients with CORE isolates were matched 1:1 with patients with colistin-susceptible Enterobacterales (COSE) isolates and uninfected control patients, and multivariable logistics regression was used to compare clinical and microbiologic features. The researchers also conducted whole-genome

Hayley Hadassinâs phone rang at 8.45pm. It was the principal at her nine-year-old sonâs international school in Hong Kong asking if she was ok. She had just been informed her sonâs entire class would be sent to government quarantine camps after a teacher tested positive for COVID-19.
Hong Kongâs Centre for Health Protection called as soon as she put the phone down: pick up would be in the next 24 hours.
âWe didnât sleep that night,â said the Australian mother of three, who is based in Hong Kong with her family.

https://www.afinalwarning.com/503352.html (Natural News) Hong Kong reported a third fatality during its Wuhan coronavirus immunization drive using the Sinovac jab. The third casualty, a 71-year-old man, died on March 8 – four days after getting vaccinated. Prior to him, two deaths following inoculation with the CoronaVac jab were reported. These deaths only served to fuel doubts and anxiety regarding the vaccine’s use in the special administrative region.
The man was reportedly in good health prior to getting the shot.
The two earlier patients who died after vaccination had underlying health conditions. The first victim was a 63-year-old man who died Feb. 28, two days after getting the vaccine. Later, a 55-year-old woman died on March 6 – four days after she got the jab.
