HOUSTON A Houston apartment complex owner and manager is facing a suit after a tenant s ceiling suddenly caved-in on her and caused her to suffer injuries.
Brenda Smith filed a complaint March 29 in Harris County District Court against Villa Nueva Apartments LLC and IRG Gustine LLC alleging negligence and premises liability.
Smith was a resident at the Villa Nueva Apartments located on West Gulfbank in Houston, according to her suit. She claims that on June. 3, 3019, the ceiling in her apartment suddenly and without warning caved-in on her and caused her to suffer injuries.
Smith alleges the defendants negligence for failing to ensure their premises were free of dangerous and unreasonable conditions. She also alleges that the defendants had actual knowledge of the dangerous condition and failed to warn or protect her from the hazard. HOUSTON A worker claims he suffered damage to his lungs after exposure to contaminated fuel being transferred into a tank at Dalhart Municipal Airport.
Jerry Thomas filed a complaint March 29 in Harris County District Court against United Petroleum Transports Inc., and Gregmar Inc., alleging negligence.
According to Thomas complaint, an United Petroleum Transports Driver hit a 7,800-gallon tank that caused damage to a 14,000-gallon fuel tank at Larsen Aviation located at the Dalhart Municipal Airport.
Thomas alleges that United Petroleum Transports brought contaminated fuel to Larsen Aviation and did not have the proper coupling to transfer the fuel to a temporary tank. He further alleges that during the transferring of the contaminated fuel, it vaporized into an aerosol and caused him to breathe poisonous fumes. HOUSTON A Houston Cadillac dealer is being accused of installing a tire backwards and putting more than 500 miles on a vehicle while it was at the dealership for service.
Jack Carroll filed a complaint March 29 in Harris County District Court against J. Stewart Investments Inc., and Stewart Cadillac LP doing business as Stewart Cadillac alleging deceptive trade practices, fraud, negligence and breach of contract.
According to Carroll s suit, he purchased a new 2017 Cadillac STS from Central Houston Cadillac on Aug. 20, 2018, which included nitrogen run-flat tires. He alleges that on Aug. 20, 2018, the vehicle s indicator light showed low tire pressure and that he was charged $403.06 to replace the tire. He further alleges that on July 10, 2019, he was driving on the 1-10 freeway when another tire on the vehicle abruptly deflated and caused the tire to shred and blow out.
HOUSTON A woman claims she slipped on a liquid left on the floor by an employee at a Houston Dollar General and suffered serious injuries.
Stormi Hardy filed a complaint March 27 in Harris County District Court against Family Dollar Stores of Texas LLC alleging premises liability.
Hardy claims in her suit that while shopping at the Dollar General on Cullen Boulevard in Houston on July 11, 2020, she slipped and fell on a liquid substance that was left on the floor by an employee. She alleges that she was looking at merchandise and making sure not to run into other customers or product displays and did not notice the liquid on the floor.
HOUSTON A suit alleges an 84-year old cancer survivor was left without adequate air conditioning or heat due to an HVAC contractor walking off the job.
Frances Mears and David Mears filed a complaint March 29 in Harris County District Court against Air Specialist Heating & A/C Company Inc., alleging breach of contract and violation of the Texas Deceptive Trade Pratices Act.
The plaintiffs allege in their complaint that the defendants left 84-year old Frances Mears, a cancer survivor, without adequate air conditioning for a Houston summer or adequate heating during an abnormally cold winter and in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic due to their egregious, deceptive and unconscionable actions.
