KINGSTON – The theft of copper wire, tools and a truck and trailer from a construction site in Kingston, police say, may be part of a coordinated crime spree that has resulted in multiple arrests.
A multi-agency investigation into the theft of copper wire that occurred at a large construction site in the south part of Kingston began Jan. 9 and resulted in the arrest of the three men and one woman Friday, April 2.
The Kingston Police allege that more than $150,000 of copper wire, thousands of dollars of tools, and a truck and trailer to transport the goods were stolen. They also allege that tens of thousands of dollars in damage was done to other property to identify and steal the property of value.
Procopio said Klem was driving a 2019 Ford F-150 pickup truck and appeared to hit a vehicle driven by Erin Bertrand, 35, of Hanover, at about 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, on Route 3 in Weymouth.
Bertrand, driving a 2015 Honda Pilot, was pushed off the road and into the wood line. Klem did not stop, Procopio said.
The victim s husband, Marc Bertrand, said he was glad their children were not in the car at the time and that four people stopped to help her.
East Bridgewater Fire Chief Timothy Harhen said in an email that Klem has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation, and that he would not comment further, calling it a personnel matter.

No one was injured during the chase, Hingham police said in a statement.
An officer approached a car that went off the road
and was stuck in brush and trees on Charles Street at 2:33 a.m., the statement said. He found the driver, Joshua L. Johnson, 34, alone, not wearing pants and holding a lighter.
The officer asked Johnson to lower the window so they could speak, but Johnson yelled that he would move the car, the statement said.
