Chennai-based space technology startup has raised funds as it works on developing Agnibaan, an indigenously produced launch vehicle that will carry small satellites to a low-Earth orbit.

Relativity Space, an aerospace startup that carried out the first test flight of a 3D-printed rocket, announced Wednesday that it will focus on a bigger rocket to compete for commercial launches with SpaceX and other companies. The Long Beach, California-based company launched the world's first 3D-printed rocket, Terran 1, on March 22 from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

The pivot to a larger rocket, the Terran R, will likely mean Relativity won’t conduct additional launches until 2026, when it expects the vehicle to be ready for flight.

“The first stage really was the big question. That’s where all of your structural issues come up."

After failing the first and second attempt, the Terran 1—world’s first 3D-printed rocket, was launched successfully on its third attempt on Wednesday, but despite sustained efforts, it failed to achieve orbit during second-stage separation, according to AFP.

Relativity Space's much-anticipated test flight of its 3D-printed rocket unfortunately ended in failure.

The rockets flight apparently came to a sad end after its upper stage shut down shortly after separation.
