but they ll probably do a manual docking the way we used to do in the shuttle. and what are the astronauts experiencing right now, general? we know that they were just discussing the g forces. you know, it is interesting. never having been on anything except the space shuttle, on the shuttle at liftoff, you felt about a g and a half. it is not a lot. it is like being with your teenage kid in a car at a stop light and the light changes green and they all of a sudden floor it and you get pushed back in your seat a little bit. and so that s about it. the maximum amount of g that they feel is around 3 or 4 gs and it is actually through your chest as you get to the point where all the boosters and in this particular case when the primary launch vehicle, the atlas 5, when it gets ready to separate, they re going to feel pressure across their chest. i used to describe it like having a gorilla sit on your

it s going to be okay. a couple gs. what does it feel like to have a sudden rapid plunge like that? well, so the passengers got both. they got negative gs and positive gs. first as you are diving and being driven into your seat. then when they pull it out, you are thrust against your belt. i think they calculated 2.77 gs, which is almost three times your normal weight. so it would have felt like you were three times as heavy. and that s comparable literally as the gentleman just said, it s comparable to a roller coaster. and it would have been quite a ride. by the way, those g-forces are also something that you have to check when you land because airplanes and, you know, commercial passenger jets are only rated for certain g-forces, as are the flaps. so the pilot was worried about too much speed on the flaps and they also should have checked out what the g-forces did on the plane. so lots of things were on here.
security correspondent nick paton walsh is live from dnipro, ukraine. you had a rare opportunity to travel to the front lines in southern ukraine. give us a sense of what ukrainian forces are up against. reporter: yeah, look, it is a slow fight. a difficult grind, certainly. it is one which ukrainian soldiers say they are making progress in when you put to them the idea from western analysts that they are not moving as fast as they could be. we saw ourselves the first journalists to get access to the front lines exactly how that fight looks. the brutal work here, the world hasn t seen, but wants its results. from the west, they have words and weapons of support, but out here it s them alone. in searing heat, cloaked in dust, in the southern counteroffensive, ukraine has the initiative.
