Two Greater Cincinnati men who pled guilty to defrauding investors in a fake medical marijuana operation have been sentenced, according to the Ohio Department of Commerce.

Two local men were sentenced to 90 days in jail and five years probation for bilking investors out of nearly $800,000.

Ryan R. Goldschmidt, 39, of Cincinnati, and Aaron Pitman, 35, of Morrow, pleaded guilty recently to two third-degree felonies for aggregated theft; and two second-degree felonies for telecommunications fraud and unlawful securities practices.

The men are accused of making misrepresentations to multiple victims to induce them to invest in a medical marijuana grow operation.

The investors were told that they would get their money back, as well as additional distributions of profit, according to prosecutors.
