The Santa Cruz Pride Committee announced its plans for the 49th annual Santa Cruz Pride festival and parade

BANGOR -- Starting next week the City of Bangor will begin the process of installing new outdoor public restrooms around the city.

"On March 11, 1975, the City Council unanimously designated the Town Clock as the city's official Bicentennial project to be completed by July 4, 1976, donating $27,000 toward the project's estimated $89,000 cost," writes Local History columnist Ross Eric Gibson.

In 1973, the first Blue Plaque awards were given out by the Santa Cruz Historical Society; and one of the recipients that year was the Octagon Building.

Community members from around Santa Cruz County and Monterey Bay flocked to Downtown Santa Cruz on a sunny Saturday afternoon to celebrate Earth Day and learn about environmental stewardship and sustainability, all while having some fun in the process.
