The Air Force's refusal to get into specifics on how many deaths they suspect to be suicide stems from a desire to prevent more suicides, officials said.

Air Force officials have remained mum about the deaths of 17 people on an Oklahoma base this year, citing concerns for its active units as well as the families of those who have died.

An Air Force base in Oklahoma is tight-lipped after 17 people have died on the base since the beginning of 2023. Officials for the Air Force and base have refused to reveal causes of deaths.

Tinker Air Force Base has more than 30,000 personnel, and it's unclear how many of those deaths were service members, government employees, contractors or civilians tied to the base.
