The stabbing incident at Maharaja’s College in Ernakulam followed an attack on a college faculty member by students. The attacks took place in the backdrop of the tension on the campus after the college union election.

Police said Nazar Abdul Rahman, SFI college unit secretary, on Wednesday night was stabbed by a group of students belonging to the Fraternity Movement, student wing of Welfare Party, floated by Jamaat-e-Islami; and KSU, student wing of Congress.
