New Hebron Missionary church purchased over 150 bikes for the second year in a row. Pastor of New Hebron church says this would not have been possible without the help of the members of the church.

The Grand Rapids Public Schools board of education is meeting on December 18 to vote on a plan, dubbed “Reimagine GRPS with Us” that calls for the shutdown of ten public schools in the coming decade.

Grand Rapids Public Schools announced Wednesday it made a change to the “Reimagine GRPS with US!” Facilities Recommendations.

In an effort to keep students safe, schools across the Commonwealth are receiving part of a $12 million grant meant to improve school security.

Janylen O'Keefe Chapman,20, and Dasaan Corkley-Williams, 19, of Hampton were in connection to the shooting. Chapman was arrested on Aug. 21, Corkley-Williams was arrested on Sept. 23.

The shooting happened shortly before 1 a.m. on March 8 in the 1500 block of Briarfield Road, near the Aberdeen Elementary School.

It was a clean sweep by Carthage Elementary School this year for two of the most prized honors delivered by Moore County Schools.

Some Aberdeen students will take a break from class with a new playground. A ribbon cutting was held Tuesday morning at Aberdeen Elementary and Belle-Shivers Middle for the areas.

Officers found two 19-year-old men with gunshot wounds on the 1400 block of Aberdeen Road early Wednesday morning.
