KOHIMA — A two-day capacity building training programme on substance abuse prevention for police personnel got underway at the conference hall of the Dimapur

Nagaland DGP Rupin Sharma said there is very little synchronisation of efforts among enforcement agencies or individuals to effectively address the issue of substance abuse although there are mechanisms functioning in place at different level.

The time for planning has passed, and we are now in a time that calls for action individually as well as collectively, and take eradication of drug abuse as a public movement, Nagaland State Chief Secretary, J Alam asserted on Monday. 

J Alam on Monday sounded alarm over the surge in drug use in the state despite dealing with the menace for years.

HIV and AIDS has been prevalent in Nagaland since 1990 and as per the NACO HIV Estimation 2019, Nagaland has an adult prevalence rate of 1.45%.
