Army man commits suicide at Srinagar military HQ | India News

SRINAGAR: A day after a lieutenant colonel shot himself dead with his service weapon at the Khonmoh depot on the outskirts of Srinagar, an Army jawan allegedly committed suicide by hanging at the military headquarters in the city on Thursday. Official sources said Anoop Kumar of 105 BN (TA) Raj Riffle committed suicide near the JCO Point in Badamibagh Cantonment. A probe has been launched to ascertain the reason behind the jawan taking his own life. On Wednesday, Col Sudeep Bhagat had shot himself and was declared dead in the army hospital. The reason behind his suicide is also being ascertained.

An official told the news agency KNO) that the sepoy, posted in an army camp near Chawa area on the outskirts of Rajouri town, was found lying in a pool of blood with bullet marks on his body. “The body has been taken to GMC Associated Hospital Rajouri for post mortem examination and other medico-legal formalities,” he said. The official said that investigation into the matter was going on to find out the cause of death as the deceased is having bullet marks on his body.
