Youth Week has begun in Penticton, with a plethora of events celebrating the young people in the community.

Youth Week is underway in Penticton with a host of fun, free events planned around the city.

Insurance coverage is simply too expensive for the non-profit operator of Penticton’s outdoor rink to allow hockey sticks and pucks on the ice with other skaters, says the group’s leader.

Penticton’s outdoor skating rink is due to open for the season this coming Saturday, Dec. 16, at 1 p.m. with a family friendly celebration.

Two years of financial certainty was delivered Tuesday to 13 different groups in Penticton, after city council approved a major change to the municipal grant process.

City taxpayers are passing another $50,000 to the B.C. Hockey League in exchange for the privilege of hosting All Star Weekend festivities on the new outdoor rink early next year.
