Vestas has picked a 95MW order from European Energy, in partnership with Eólica Tecnologia, for the Ouro Branco and Quatro Ventos wind projects in the Brazilian state of Pernambuco.
The order comprises 21 V150-4.2 MW turbines delivered in 4.5MW Power Optimized Mode with 120m towers together with a ten-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service contract.
Vestas sales director in Brazil Eric Gomes said: European Energy is a valued customer to Vestas globally and we look forward to building upon our existing partnership in Brazil. Both projects will feature our most recent 4MW platform technology, ensuring optimal power production for the local wind conditions and maximum value for our customer’s business case.
Vestas has signed a contract in Italy with Gruppo FERA subsidiary Aleramo for turbines totalling 20MW for the Cairo Montenotte wind farm.
The deal covers supply, transport, installation and commissioning of five V136-4.0MW machines as well as an 18-year Active Output Management 5000 service agreement.
The project is located in Cascinassa, Liguria, in complex mountainous terrain with little space to move larger rotor turbine components, Vestas said.
Vestas vice-president of sales for Southern Europe and Turkey Rainer Karan said: “We are very excited about our partnership with Gruppo FERA.
“This project will showcase how Vestas’ new generation of wind turbines can reach mountainous areas.
Turbine deliveries are due to commence in the second quarter of 2022.
The project will feature a VestasOnline Business SCADA solution, which the Danish company says lowers turbine downtime thus optimising the energy output.
The contract also includes supply, installation and commissioning of the wind turbines, as well as a 10-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement.
Statkraft Ireland managing director Kevin O’Donovan said: Statkraft is playing a leading role in the global transition to a low carbon future and is really pleased to fund and construct these two wind farms. Statkraft has a significant portfolio of renewable energy projects in Ireland which are currently being developed and will be going into construction over the next few years, this includes wind and solar farms as well as battery grid services projects.

In partnership with Global Power Generation, a subsidiary of the multinational power company Naturgy Group, Vestas has secured a 97 MW deal for the Hawkesdale Wind Farm in Victoria, Australia. The project will feature 23 V136-4.2 MW wind turbines which Vestas will supply and install.
Upon completion, Vestas will also deliver a 15-year Active Output Management 5000 service agreement. With an energy-based availability guarantee, the service agreement will maximise the energy production of the fleet and provide Global Power Generation with long-term business case certainty.
The deal follows Vestas’ recent announcement of the second stage of the Berrybank wind project and the Ryan Corner wind project, two new Victorian wind parks to be developed with Global Power Generation. Together, the three projects will export a total of 425 MW of clean energy to the Australian grid.

Vestas has received a 138 MW order to repower a wind project in the U.S. With this order, Vestas will replace 73 existing V80-1.8 MW turbines with a total of 73 V110-2.0 MW turbines, including previously purchased 2 MW components.
With the largest global installed capacity and service base, Vestas is uniquely positioned to harness operational and technical insights gained from the largest wind data repository in the world, to develop repowering solutions for Vestas and non-Vestas wind turbines alike.
Repowering offers solutions for asset owners facing the higher operation and maintenance costs of an aging fleet and mitigates the complexities of sourcing spare parts for obsolete technology.
