A 10-year-old student died when his teacher beat him with a shovel and pushed him off the first-floor balcony of the government-run school at Hagli village in Naragund taluk of Karnataka’s Gadag on Monday.

The teacher, identified as Muthappa Yellapa Hadagali, also assaulted the child’s mother who also taught at the same school.

The accused, Muthappa Yellapa Hadagali (33), who taught at the Adarsh Primary School of Hadli village in Karnataka's Gadag district, fled the spot after the incident and is absconding.

Gadag: In a repeat of the Delhi incident, Karnataka’s Gadag district school teacher thrashed a class 4 student with an iron rod and flung the boy from the first floor of the school building.
