Law16/Feb/2021 Jaipur: As the Rakbar Khan lynching case heads to its final hearing on March 6, the Rajasthan government has appointed another Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) in the case. Senior advocate Nasir Ali Naqvi, who is also handling the Pehlu Khan lynching case, has been appointed as the SPP. Speaking to The Wire, Naqvi said, “I will be arguing the case in the final hearing. Currently, I’m going through the case documents.” Rakbar’s 73-year-old mother Habiban and key witness in his case and Rakhbar’s friend Aslam Khan (32), in an application, had accused the court of Additional District Judge No. 1 of bias.

Rauf is one of the main accused in a criminal money laundering case being probed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). On Monday, he was produced before the ADJ Court for remand. After hearing arguments, the ADJ Court sent him on 14-day judicial custody.

Image Source: IANS News Bhubaneswar, Feb 11 : A local court in Odisha s Balasore on Thursday awarded life imprisonment to former contractual cameraman of Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) Ishwar Behera on charges of espionage. Balasore Additional District Judge (ADJ) court convicted and awarded life imprisonment to Behera, former cameraman at DRDO s Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur for his links with Pakistan s intelligence agency ISI. Behera was arrested in January 2015 for passing confidential information to ISI regarding testing of missiles at the ITR. He was convicted under Sections 121, 121A and 120B of the IPC, and 3 and 5 of the Official Secrets Act, informed Nalini Kumar Panda, public prosecutor.

The accused identified as Ishwar Chandra Behera, was arrested in January 2015 for allegedly spying and Passing confidential and sensitive information of DRDO s ITR and missiles testing to Pakistani intelligence agency, ISI, as per the crime branch of Odisha police. In a view of the sensitivity of the case, the investigation was later handed over to the CID of Odisha Crime Branch in February 2015.
