MONTREAL — The Crown says it won't appeal the acquittal last month of a Quebec woman following a third trial in the deaths of her two daughters. Adele Sorella was acquitted by Quebec Superior Court Justice Myriam Lachance on Dec. 18.

She was was acquitted by Quebec Superior Court in December after being convicted twice previously, in 2013 and 2019, of murder in the girls deaths, but both of those decisions were overturned on appeal.

MONTREAL — A Quebec woman was acquitted Monday in the 2009 deaths of her young daughters after a third trial on the same murder charges, leaving unanswered the question of who killed the girls.

Her two daughters died while Sorella’s husband, who was linked with drug trafficking and the Montreal Mafia, was in hiding.
