The United Auto Workers union has started to count ballots in its historic first election of top officers and reform candidates have already claimed a few regional offices.

This letter was sent by United Auto Workers presidential candidate Will Lehman to UAW members on November 9. It includes a separate letter sent by Lehman to the court-appointed Monitor overseeing the elections.

Lehman called for workers in the UAW and beyond to support the strike by 48,000 academic workers in California, stating, “You have taken a courageous stand against the corporate and politically connected forces that run the University of California system.”
