Senior US officials, Americans who had returned from detention abroad and loved ones of those who have yet to come home gathered in front of the US State Department as a new flag was raised ahead of the nation’s first-ever Hostage and Wrongful Detainee Day.

Bring Our Families Home is a campaign for the relatives of Americans who are being held hostage or wrongfully detained overseas.

The event will mark the first time President Biden will meet in-person with the families of Americans who were taken hostage by Hamas.

A temporary mural dedicated to Americans who have been wrongfully detained abroad is being taken down after it was plastered on a wall in the Georgetown Neighborhood of D.C. for a year-and-a-half.

A mural unveiled in Montrose features Americans held in foreign jails. Families hope the event urges President Biden to bring loved ones home.
