Advocates made their way around Capitol Hill on Wednesday to urge lawmakers to fund optional full-day kindergarten here in Utah.

Utah lawmakers are considering a school choice bill that proponents call a scholarship and opponents call a voucher. Some question whether the Hope Scholarship would violate the Utah Constitution by allowing state money to go to faith-bases schools. A Utah House committee advanced the legislation.

Despite concerns about constitutionality and accountability, the House Revenue and Taxation Committee voted 6-5 Tuesday in support of HB331, the Hope Scholarship bill.\n
