NHAI to transplant 3.5k trees uprooted for road widening. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to transplant as many as 3,500 trees, which were to be uprooted for widening of an 18km stretch of Chandikhol-Paradip road. The NHAI is expecting a 100% survival rate of the plants being transplanted within 2.5 km distance from its original place. However, the NHAI failed to protect 3,000 other big trees, which were felled for the project.
