As a growing number of states pass or consider laws targeting LGBTQ people, some students feel under siege and educators face new scrutiny.

The teacher gave a letter to several high school students, referring to them as their deadnames and saying their gender assigned at birth was "the biological truth."

A teacher at Watertown High sent a letter to students, trying to refute that theyre transgender. In response, students are protesting at the school.

Alex Rambow spoke with Morning Edition host Stel Kline back in November. His mom, Amy, started a queer community group called "Watertown Love" several years ago to surround her son and other young people with support.
