Basketball fans at Wildcat Arena got a holiday treat on Thursday in the form of a down-to-the-wire thriller. Magnolia survived a last-second 3-point attempt by El Dorado and stayed unbeaten on the season with a 54-53 win in the varsity boys’ matchup. The Lady Panthers won the varsity girls’ game 59-30.

Third-ranked Magnolia on Saturday defeated fifth-ranked Watson Chapel in the 4A South Region championship game for the third consecutive year, winning 53-44 at the recently opened Lumberjack Arena in Warren.
