The Manassas City Council has approved the sale of approximately 20 acres on Wakeman Drive for a new data center.

The city of Manassas has received an offer from Amazon Data Services, Inc. to purchase approximately 21 acres on Wakeman Drive for a new data center.

Amazon Data Services India has signed a long-term lease for four acres of land in Mumbais Powai suburb from Larsen & Toubro to build a data center. It will pay over Rs 562 crore in rent and has agreed to increase the rent by 3 per cent each year. Amazon has already paid Rs 2.4 crore as a security deposit.

The rent is Rs 2.59 crore per month and Amazon will pay a premium of Rs 18 crore per acre totaling Rs 72 crore, according to the documents.
