The strike coincides with the recent announcement in Chancellor Jeremy Hunts Autumn Statement that the National Living Wage will rise from £10.42 to £11.44 per hour in April. Amazon contends that its pay already surpasses this level and the voluntary Real Living Wage, which stands at £12 per hour for non-London workers. The company emphasised the additional benefits it offers to its workforce.
