Whether it’s tiny tractors, collectible combines or miniature semis, Collin Knipper has found big success selling small farm toys. As the owner of FarmToys4You, Knipper sells scale models of farming machinery to customers near and far.

Cameryn Schafer, senior in animal ecology, is the co-owner of Spock's Sanctuary, an animal rescue operation for exotic species. She and her pet lizard, Tsuchi, a blue-tongued skink, posed with Iowa State University President Wendy Wintersteen at the CyStarters Demo Day Reception where she promoted her business model last summer.

By Amber Friedrichsen In addition to completing assignments and taking exams, Luke Dietrich’s college career has consisted of laying bricks and drawing landscaping plans. The senior in horticulture is the owner of Pilot Landscaping Solutions LLC, and he has scaled his business while simultaneously pursuing his degree.

The internship program, offered through the World Food Prize Foundation, places students in organizations around the world to work with eminent researchers and policymakers to analyze agricultural, nutritional, health, economic and environmental problems from a global perspective.

By Amber Friedrichsen With passports in hand and suitcases in tow, two groups of students from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences boarded planes to study abroad during Iowa State University’s fall break. These faculty-led programs to Costa Rica and the United Arab Emirates provided students opportunities to witness international agriculture and develop a global perspective of the industry.
