Lawrence County officers learned a program designed to help them better deal with subjects battling issues related to mental health and addiction.

Amber Mathis works as a peer recovery coach at the Bedford-based nonprofit Families Forever, where she draws from her own experiences with substance use to help people navigate similar situations.
