Highest 14-day case count since start of pandemic in Juneau

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Forty-four new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Juneau from July 24 to 26. Forty of that number are residents. Over the past 14 days, 150 people tested positive for COVID-19 in our community, a significant majority of whom were residents, Mila Cosgrove, deputy city manager, said in a release on Monday by the City and Borough of Juneau. We have not had a 14-day case count this high during the entire pandemic. There are 112 active cases of COVID-19 in Juneau as of Monday evening. According to the city and borough, nine additional people have tested positive aboard cruise ships since Friday one on the Celebrity Millennium, one on the American Constellation, and seven aboard the Wilderness Explorer.

Twenty-nine new resident cases were reported for July 20 and 21 in Juneau. Currently, there are 67 active cases of COVID-19 in town. Four out of the 16-person cluster associated with the American Constellation are still considered active cases. The state reported 427 new cases and one death over the same two-day period.
