Deteriorating international relations means Swedens security threat has increased, and the Swedish Security Service (Säpo) now warns of foreign espionage against Swedish military and industry. Security expert Johan Wiktorin says the new green industries in northern Sweden could be a target for foreign powers. "They are probably already exposed," he says.

Swedish battery maker Northvolt has been given the go-ahead to build its joint battery factory with Volvo Cars, a court has ruled.

Northvolt is about to announce a $5.3 billion battery factory in Canada according to news reports with knowledge of the negotiations.

Northvolt says that its massive factory in Sweden will soon produce enough batteries each year to power a million electric cars, with a much smaller carbon footprint than those made in China
