Vanessa Cook, owner of Cooks Nitro Market in the 2500 block of 1st Avenue, says there are many reasons she cant keep the store open. The 10,000-square-foot building, formerly known as Nitro Supermarket, as the area’s go-to spot for a local grocery shopping since 1974. It closed for eight months due to a Aug. 4, 2022 fire. It reopened under new management April 3, 2023, as Cooks Nitro Market.
