Now affective: Crestview, Florida can sell alcohol on Sunday mornings

CRESTVIEW  Because of an ordinance unanimously adopted by the City Council on Monday, the hours for when alcoholic beverages can be legally sold in Crestview now match those in the cities of Fort Walton Beach and Destin and in unincorporated Okaloosa County. Previously, Crestview had prohibited the sale of alcoholic beverages from 4-7 a.m. Monday through Saturday and from 4 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday. Exceptions to the rule were any restaurants that regularly serve full meals from 10 a.m. until 4 a.m. the following morning. With the adopted ordinance, which took effect immediately, the sale of alcoholic beverages now is prohibited from 4-7 a.m. every day in the Hub City. That means people in Crestview now can buy alcohol starting at 7 a.m. Sunday instead of having to wait until 1 p.m.

Crestview Commons shopping center might open in spring of next year

CRESTVIEW The Crestview Commons mixed-use development is expected to open in the spring of 2022. City Manager Tim Bolduc shared that information with the City Council on Monday while providing an update on the project. The Benchmark Group of Amherst, New York, is the developer of the estimated $14 million project. The company’s plans include the development of about 73,000 square feet of inline retail space plus two national sit-down restaurant chains northwest of State Road 85 (Ferdon Boulevard) and Interstate 10. The project site is part of an almost 22-acre area bounded by S.R. 85 to the east, the old Golden Asian Buffet restaurant near Hospital Drive to the north, Price-Gregory Way to the west and Mirage Avenue, Chick-fil-A and vacant land to the south.
