Less than a month after the murder of Krasimir Kamenov in Cape Town, more Bulgarian suspects wanted by police may be in South Africa, dragging the country deeper into global organised crime.

South Africa has for decades been home to a thriving Bulgarian organised crime network, says a crime expert.

The recent murder in Cape Town of a suspect wanted for crimes in Bulgaria hints at underworld connections between the two countries.

One of four people gunned down in Constantia, Cape Town, last week was Krasimir Kamenov, wanted for crimes in Bulgaria. A deeper look at the case reveals Bulgaria warned South Africa that he was here and was a wanted man. Possible links to a crypto suspect sought by the FBI have also emerged.

The four are believed to be from Bulgaria. Previously, in a case linked to organised crime, two Bulgarians were assassinated in Cape Town.
