Twenty-eight 2024 honors graduates were recently recognized at a reception as U of As Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences honored students at its yearly academic awards reception.

Since 1984, Chattanooga has seen an approximately 43% reduction in its urban forests while at the same time the amount of developed land has more than doubled, according to research from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Anna Mathis -- a student at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville -- has been awarded a Harry S. Truman Scholarship for 2023.

Mathis, an honors junior from Valley Springs, plans to pursue a career in rural development and international agriculture development, focusing on food security.

Jonathan Brye, Madison Estepp, Clark Griscom, Anna Mathis, Clay Maynard, Hannah Ferguson and Natasha Hightower received academic honors, and 13 students were recognized as ambassadors.

M Hailey Hoog, Anna Mathis and Sophie McAdara -- three juniors from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville -- have been selected as finalists for the 2023 Harry S. Truman Scholarship.
