i m tori campbell. it s wednesday, december 7th. oping tower news topping our news it s finally happened. early this morning, san francisco police moved in on the occupy sf camp. we have team coverage. we begin with paul chambers at the foot of market street. what s happening there, paul? reporter: the cleanup is beginning here behind me. this woman is cleaning up this area. this is one of the places where occupy san francisco was. they basically took care of business you can see right here, she s cleaning up. as you can see now, this all happened just before 2:00 this morning. police went in and raided occupy san francisco. protesters say they were given five minutes to get all of their i tell. the or else was items or else. as i was trying to leave, they would not let me leave. as i tried to leave, they zip tied me, put me in a bus with a bunch of other people and shipped me off to the jail. reporter: there was also a confrontation showdown with police
new stadium. an 8 hundred$850 million loan so they say it s full steam ahead. but first, they have to get it passed with santa clara city council. with the banks on board, top leaders of the 49ers confident that they will be breaking ground on a new stadium in santa clara. it is a done deal? it s a significant mile stone. and i think it s safe to say it s no longer about if the the stadium is going to be built. it s about when. reporter: the team says that s just more evidence of mounting support for the stadium. and they shoot down fears that santa clar is going to get saddled with millions in debt. none of this will be general fund. reporter: with rising costs and complicated contract, some residents say this isn t what they signed up for. it s a bait-and-switch. this is not what the people voted on. the san francisco 49ers only want to pay for pieces of the stadium. they want to turn right around and take millions about millions dollars out of the stadium eve
how did it go? it went very well. we worked in concert with the department of public works as you can see behind us here they are cleaning it up. some demonstrators have left came back and have been on market street so we are going to have some more arrests. reporter: why today? as sure it s not been lost on everyone, we have been negotiating and the mayor has been incredibly patient in trying to figure out the situation and thought we get them over to mission. then yesterday e-mails weren t returned even though department heads went over and tried to finalize the site. we weren t getting any further negotiations. they had broken off and after last thursday s attacks on the officers, the situation had to happen so tonight was the night. reporter: i see that full force with the police department as well as sheriff s department. over 50 arrests this morning. do you think that was expected? do you think you re expecting more arrests? i think like i said we are a making
claimed later. a full force of police officers and sheriff s deputies, she said there were more than 100 tents at the camp and more than 100 demonstrators, as well. he says to date there are over 50 people arrested, one of the police officers hit in the face by a thrown metal chair which i m sure could hurt. now, he says that the reason it was done today is because negotiations between city officials and protestors have broken down. that there is no response to the e-mails, no call backs from city officials. that s why they decided to do it today. but we talked to one protestor this morning here from the beginning and says he feels betrayed by city official. i personally have been working really hard with dpw for one, mohammed, working with the board of supervisors and you know, we had an agreement to try to work together and this when these kind of things got to a point they would come to us and tell us and we would do what we could to fix it. and there was no communicatio
