The recent floods in Western Cape left a trail of destruction in parts of the province, causing extensive damage to affected areas infrastructure, and consequently, its farms.

The town has been severely hit by heavy rains, with a section of the roadway having been washed away as a result.

The reopening of Algeria Road, which connects Citrusdal to Kaapse Weg, follows ongoing mop up operations after severe weather conditions caused extensive damage to the town.

Extreme flooding occurred in the Breede river valley municipality last week, with the community of Rawsonville being the hardest hit, with hundreds of people displaced.

Gift of the Givers has been assisting with essential supplies, including fleece blankets, plastic coveralls, bottled water, bread, non-perishable food items and hygiene packs.

Citrusdal residents have been isolated in their town since Wednesday evening after heavy flooding cut off access to the Cederberg town.
