Given a perfect set-up with a stalking trip behind dueling leaders, jockey Jairo Rendon only had one difficult decision to make midway through the turn of Saturday’s $100,000 Jersey Shore Stakes at Monmouth Park.

For those in trainer Todd Pletcher’s camp, the feeling entering Sunday’s $250,000 Monmouth Oaks (G3) at Monmouth Park was that it was a two-horse race between Shahama and the Brad Cox-trained Juju’s Map. Turns out it was a one-horse race.

That was the case in Sunday’s $100,000 Boiling Springs Stakes at Monmouth Park, when Team Valor International’s Green Up was able to coast on the front end through soft fractions and then spurted away when asked for a 5¾-length victory.

Mind Control spurted from the gate to set the pace under John Velazquez in the $150,000 Salvator Mile (G3) Saturday at Monmouth Park but found soon found odds-on favorite Hot Rod Charlie a tenacious rival, just holding him off by a head in a furious stretch battle.
