Schools striving for some normalcy for year-end events Published: 5/6/2021 4:17:54 PM After last year’s anti-climatic graduation season, school officials are going to great lengths to organize end-of-year activities this spring that hopefully will capture, at least to a limited degree, the magic of those moments and define one of life’s biggest turning points. Events like proms and graduations will be similar, but not the same. COVID is lifting, but it isn’t gone. Using the federal and state guidelines as starting points Laconia and Gilford high schools have come up with plans that they feel strike the right balance between a celebration to remember at a time when restraint is still the watchword. Face masks and social distancing will be required.

National Honor Society welcomes new members click for larger version) February 24, 2021Gilford High School s chapter of National Honor Society welcomed 27 new members to the organization after the winter induction ceremony. Students in grades 10-12 who displayed strong qualities in each of NHS four pillars of Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character were inducted into the service organization during a ceremony on Wednesday night. Inductees, NHS members, and the family members and faculty who attended the ceremony were all required to wear masks and sit socially distanced. Students were recognized for their achievements, presented with the NHS emblem, and asked to sign the club s book.

New trimester starts at Gilford schools click for larger version) December 20, 2020A new trimester has started in Gilford schools, with some new reminders for parents as well as some holiday cheer and acts of kindness. The second trimester for Gilford schools started on Dec. 14 and students have started their new classes. The principals at Gilford Elementary and High Schools have been posting updates for parents on the schools Web sites reporting the different happenings in the schools. Before the trimester began parents had the option of changing if their students would be doing in-person learning or remote learning for the new period. GHS Principal Anthony Sperazzo reported in a parent update on the school website that students doing remote learning had an orientation after the trimester began.
