KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 ― Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Liew Chin Tong will lead the Malaysian delegation at the 29th Apec Ministers Responsible for Trade (MRT).
The establishment of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) saw the region experience a period of enthusiasm for multilateralism and economic partnerships among governments with different, even contrasting, political and ideological shades. For three decades, ultimately too short a period, it was a given that free trade and economic cooperation would lead to growth, prosperity and improved living conditions for billions of people.
Russia is adamant about its push for bilateral trade with Thailand reaching US$10 billion (330 billion baht) a year after showing strong interest in investing in the kingdom, says Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit.
The government has asked the Foreign Ministry to announce Thailand's intention to join talks on the US' newly proposed multilateral trade agreement, known as the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF).
