Supreme Court hands Google a landmark win against Oracle over Java on Android
Concluding a legal battle that had been going on for a decade, the US supreme court has ruled in favour of Google, allowing the reimplementation of APIs for furthering the cause of openness and interoperability.

Highlights
Oracle had alleged a copyright infringement on about 12,000 lines of code Google copied from the Java API.
Google argued that its use of the code was meant for fair use and therefore not subject to copyright liability.
The Court found Googles actions to be in support of interoperability and hence fair use.
