Mornings on 2. Its thursday, august 4th. And lets start with a little weather and traffic. Hello there. Cooler, cooler, you guys. Therell be a turn on the smoke in the fire. The low clouds are 2000 feet and theres a howling delta wind. Its going to equal cooler conditions. 62 although there are 50s nearby. Its hard to get any information. And a lot of this is coming from the higher elevations. And were trying to do our best to get some temps. The key is the wind direction, west, southwest. Yesterday was east, northeast. And some of the smoke was blowing towards berryessa and vacaville. The fog bank has ramped up big time. Thats going to allow a significant cooler pattern. Gusts almost to 40 miles per hour. 50s on the temps or 60s. And low clouds are just about everywhere. Not every location but many. 70s and 80s inland. And 50s and 60s by the water. Residual traffic on northbound 101. All lanes reopened 15 minutes ago. What happened earlier this morning and backed up traffic for hours, there was a tragic fatal motorcycle accident, killed a motorcycle rider and shook up drivers on the freeway as well. When we arrived on scene the motorcycle was still here. So was the deceased rider. We dont know his name. The chp says its a man in his early 20s. The motorcycle was a blue yamaha. This happened before 9 15. Officers say the motorcycle rider was splitting lanes on northbound 101 and sideswiped a black chevy suv. The motorcycle rider lost control and ended up tumbling down in the number three lane where he was run over by a flatbed pickup truck. Emergency crews responded quickly but could not save the riders lives. It is legal to split lanes. However, we want them to do it safely. We dont know what was the cause of the crash yet. We do put a lot of responsibility on the motorist. We have seen a lot of motorcycles split lanes. We want t

Reporter were at a roadblock outside winters. If you were to follow this road you would get to the lake heading into napa. Now the good news tonight was the coal fire it shifted north and west above the lake. But its a priority to keep it from jumping highway 128. Its hard on your community. Last night during practice cal fire was coming through here like crazy. Youth football tried to practice like every night. But heavy smoke forced the league to cut drills short and send players home. The kids are not complained. Thats the thing. Its the parents that are more concerned. It wasnt this thick when they started but about 5 00 the cold fire got super heated. Engine companies had to beat or retreat allowing the fire to gain strength and speed sending up a huge plume. The air attack busy all day bec
