Weather permitting, the Arkansas Department of Transportation will continue widening Highway 67 to six lanes, closing a part of Braden Street in Jacksonville.

ARDOT says the closure will allow crews to continue work on the Interstate 30 bridge over Highway 67/229.

Sometime over the next several days, the Arkansas Department of Transportation plans to activate the new traffic signal at the intersection of Albert Pike Road (Highway 270 west) and Crystal Hill Road, initially as a flashing signal in preparation for making it fully operational next month.

The dual left-turn lanes on Mountain Pine Road (Highway 227) that will allow southbound traffic to turn eastbound onto Albert Pike Road (Highway 270) are open today as part of the construction project to widen Albert Pike Road to five lanes, the Arkansas Department of Transportation says.

Starting next week, construction in Jacksonville on Highway 67 is set to begin— this will be the final project of the Connecting Arkansas Program.

As has become apparent, the El Dorado City Council will not meet this month.

Interstate 30 will be temporarily closed in both directions starting Nov. 11 and ending on Nov. 14 depending upon weather, says ARDOT.

The Arkansas Supreme Court heard oral arguments Thursday challenging whether the Arkansas Department of Transportation can use sovereign immunity to avoid paying more than $18 million in attorneys fees related to a lawsuit filed earlier this year by a group of taxpayers who successfully challenged the agencys spending on two major road construction projects.

The Arkansas Supreme Court recently sided with a small group of taxpayers in a challenge to the Arkansas Department of Transportation over the allocation of funding generated by Amendment 91 taxes.
