Right now, a major step forward in the Recovery Process for a Coastal Community devastated by last winters relentless storms. I think a lot of people thought the beaches were closed. You may remember back in january, the iconic peer was destroyed and swept away into the ocean during a powerful atmospheric river. And the landmark has stood there since 1857 before it was torn in half by the ferocious surf. Heres a look from capitola right now where a Ribbon Cutting ceremony was held today for a 7. 7 million project to rebuild and reopen the wharf. Staging machinery, equipment and materials, construction crews have mobilized on the capitola wharf. Especially for me, im looking at it every day, you know, it breaks my heart. I wish i could go to sleep and wake up and it is open. The damage a daily reminder from the destruction of this years storms, leading an iconic landmark unrecognizable. I got a call saying it was destroyed, so i was watching the whole thing, and i couldnt even handle it
