On an unseasonably warm evening in March, just as the sun was setting across the Monongahela River, a group of about 20 gathered at the Hazel Ruby McQuain Park amphitheater, ready to take to the streets on their bikes.

Transgender people overwhelmingly describe their lives after transitioning as “happier,” “authentic” and “comforting” despite a deluge of state legislation that seeks to restrict their access to health care and other aspects of life.

Republican bills introduced in West Virginia aim to ban trans people from public places, 'cure' them and refer to them as 'obscene matter'. 

One of a slew of anti-trans bills released January 10, the bill also bans gender affirming care up to the age of 21.
