After missing nearly eight deadlines and a delay of over a year, the much-awaited 750-metre long underpass at the Ashram crossing in south Delhi will be inaugurated on April 24, a move that will benefit lakhs of commuters, officials said.

According to Delhi PWD officials, the facility is likely to be inaugurated formally towards the end of the month, a move that will benefit lakhs of commuters.

The Ashram underpass in Delhi which was slated to open on March 22 will be thrown open to commuters on a trial basis on Tuesday. As per officials, the trial will continue till the inauguration of the underpass, which is expected by the end of this month.

After a delay of over a year during which it missed nearly eight deadlines, the 750-metre-long underpass at the perennially clogged Ashram crossing in Delhi is all set to open for public next week, a move that will benefit lakhs of commuters.
