Earth had a close encounter with an asteroid (space rock) identified as 481394 (2006 SF6), on Thursday early morning. Fortunately, asteroid 2006 SF6 failed to collide with our planet or else massive casualties would have occurred.

Asteroid 1998 HL1, the biggest space rock, will dangerously approach Earth in a couple of weeks. Asteroid 1998 HL1 is classified as “Potentially Hazardous asteroid” (PHA) by NASA. If the supergiant space rock hits the Earth, the impact event would create an explosion powerful enough to wipe out a large and populated city.

Asteroid 2019 R91 came within 23,238 miles of Earth’s surface on Thursday but went undetected. According to the NASA, asteroid 2019 R91 was travelling at speeds of 57,937mph and it came closer than some satellites orbiting the Earth.

A pair of massive asteroids named identified as 2000 QW7 and 2010 CO1 will dangerously approach Earth on September 14. Classified as Near-Earth Objects by NASAs Centre for Near-Earth Object Studies (CNEOS), the space rocks will approach Earth within a 24-hour period.

Classified as potentially hazardous asteroid by NASA’s CNEOS, the space rock dubbed as 2019 GT3 zoom past the Earth on Friday at around 9:51 am (IST). Asteroid 2019 GT3 was powerful enough to destroy an entire city during an impact event.

An asteroid identified as 2019 GT3 will approach dangerously towards Earth on September 6, 2019 at 12:21 am EDT. Classified as potentially hazardous asteroid, the space rock is being tracked by NASAs CNEOS.

These days a large number of asteroids are hovering all around the Earth and we might get hit too sooner or later. However, in a bid to save our planet and humans as well, NASA is stepping-up plans to deliberately crash a spaceship into an asteroid when it joins forces with the European Space Agency (ESA) next week.

This is not usual. In fact, it never happened before. An asteroid called 6478 Gault changed its coluor from red to blue. It is the first time scientists have observed a colour-shifting asteroid, in real time, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology said in a release recently.
