Detectives with the Kirkwood Police Department are investigating a fatal collision last weekend.

During the on-scene investigation, Henry River Road was closed in the area for approximately two hours.

The car involved was found burnt out at the location, and the occupants of the car failed to remain at the scene.

Kentucky State Police Post 2 has announced the death of Trooper Jonathan Johnson, 48, of Bowling Green, who was involved in a fatal collision earlier Tuesday while off-duty.

The Bakersfield Police Department said the collision occurred at 5:58 p.m., and the intersection will be closed for several hours while officers conduct the investigation.

The roadway was closed for several hours following the crash.

The collision happened shortly before 6pm this evening.

The collision happened in Falcarragh at around 1.30pm.

Troopers said the collision is still under investigation and will meet Monday with the Lee County District Attorney's Office regarding charges.
