A year ago the Columbia Falls Wildkats worked around a funnel cloud, lightning delays, a first-day rainout and a malfunctioning sprinkler system en route to the 2023 championship. They should be fine.

Polson softball enters each season with a long legacy of championship play. In 2024, 10 upperclassmen are on the roster for a campaign the Lady Pirates hope will last deep into the season.

Polson won one match at the State A Volleyball Championships, bowing out on Friday, Nov. 10, after losing to Western A rivals Frenchtown at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse in Bozeman.

The Lady Pirates punched their ticket to the State A Volleyball tournament in Bozeman on Thursday, winning two matches at regionals. They’ll be joined by fellow Northwest A team Whitefish which took third at the regional tournament.

Polson and Ronan exchanged blows in a Northwest A volleyball battle, and the Pirates came away with an 18-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-7 victory that lived up to the hype of the homecoming weekend.

Facing up against teams from around the nation with far bigger enrollments than their own, Polson showed they are a softball hotbed at the 18U Western Nationals.

The agencys Delaware County Family Service Center is expanding its mission in the impoverished city, thanks to the Catholic Charities Appeal, Vagabond Missions, St. Katharine Drexel Parish and other local partners.
