Community leaders have said a council's assessment of the memorial to four young boys is misguided.

Feelings are still raw in Kingshurst, where four young boys died after plunging in an icy lake.

One of the Solihull lake victims has been identified following the tragedy on Sunday. He has been named locally as Jack Johnson.

Brothers Samuel Butler, six, and Finlay Butler, eight, died along with their cousin Thomas Stewart, 11, and Jack Johnson, 10, after the incident at Babbs Mill Lake in Kingshurst, Solihull, near Birmingham.

Four boys – Jack Johnson, Finlay Butler, Samuel Butler and Thomas Stewart – had passed away in December 2022 after falling into a frozen lake at Babbs Mill. The cause of death has now been confirmed.
