In a swift action, the Army has rescued students and staff of a Rajasthan university stranded at Banihal in Jammu and Kashmir due to landslide and heavy snowfall.

A defence spokesman said that the Indian Army at Banihal displayed exemplary service and swift action during a road blockade near Banihal due to landslide, stone shooting and heavy snowfall.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the countrys longest railway tunnel on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link. The 12.77-km-long tunnel, known as T-50, is part of the Banihal-Khari-Sumber-Sangaldan section, allowing trains to run from Baramulla to Sangaldan.
